Event Description

Mark your calendar for live jazz at the High on the third Friday of every month, hosted by Jamal Ahmad from Jazz 91.9 WCLK, Atlanta’s jazz station! Music, drinks, art—no matter the month, every Friday Jazz offers a great lineup featuring different styles of jazz, from straight ahead to free jazz, bebop to swing, and more.

Photo of Jazz pianist Tyrone Jackson.December features Tyrone Jackson—a name that has quickly become synonymous with quintessential jazz piano. His boundless creativity, coupled with subtle accompaniments, has Jackson poised for national recognition.

Born in the New Orleans cradle of jazz, Jackson embodies the spirit of the Crescent City, blending funk and Afro-Caribbean melodies in his work. His teachers include a virtual Who’s Who of great jazz pianists, ranging from Ellis Marsalis and Kevin Bales to gospel legend Moses Hogan. Jackson is best known for his compelling solos; this jazz wonder’s improvisational skills allow him to become a part of the song, whether he’s playing a soft ballad or tearing through a fast-paced standard.

Seating for Friday Jazz is limited and opens at 6 p.m. There is no reserved seating. Standing room is plentiful. Friday Jazz is FREE with Museum admission and FREE for members.

Join us for Drawing in the Galleries during each Friday Jazz from 6 to 9 p.m.

Drop in and sketch live, clothed models in our galleries. We welcome all ranges of drawing experience, including guests who are picking up a sketchbook for the first time! Learn more about Drawing in the Galleries.
